Study or study related stay
Documents to be submitted with a visa application:

For a study-related stay in Belgium, you must apply for a temporary residence permit for study (Autorisation de Séjour Provisoire pour études/Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf voor studies) from the Belgian embassy or consulate responsible for your place of residence. Documents to be submitted with a visa application:

  • A valid travel document (e.g. international passport) valid for three months longer than the visa.
  • Two visa application forms correctly completed, signed and accompanied by two recent passport photographs bearing a true likeness to the applicant.
  • Proof of registration or registration permit for a full course in a higher education establishment in Belgium, or proof of application for an equivalence certificate for diplomas or certificates issued abroad, or proof of registration for an admission test or entrance exam.
  • A Grant or Scholarship or Pledge of financial support for students (annexe 32/bijlage 32), accompanied by sponsor's financial means like recent salaray slips or income tax papers.
  • A medical certificate, obtained from the medical centre designated by the Belgian embassy or consulate.
  • An extract from your judicial record (Police Clearance) if you are over 21
  • Documents should be submitted in original + 2 photocopies. All originals are returned.
  • The copy of the internal passport: personal data page (page 3), military duty (page 13), marital status (pages 14, 15), children (pages 16, 17), information about issued passports (page 19).

Important :

  1. The documents listed above are only the basic documents to be submitted in all cases. Additional documents may be requested by the embassy or consulate.
  2. Official documents issued in Russia or in Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan must be apostilled/legalised and accompanied by a certified translation.
  3. The above mentioned type D visa is a one entry national visa and requires registration in the Belgian population registers on arrival.
