Legalization:
When applying for a long-stay visa, following documents should always be
"apostilled" or legalized :

Birth, marriage, divorce, death certificates

Extracts from the judicial record (Police clearance)
Documents issued in the Russian Federation, Belarus, Armenia and Kazakhstan:
Those countries are party to the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the
Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents ("Apostille"
Convention). The documents issued in those countries are certified according to
a special simplified procedure : the authorized bodies (see
www.hcch.net) of the aforementioned countries affix a special stamp
(Apostille) not requesting further certification or legalisation. Apostilled
documents will be admitted by official institutions in Belgium.
The documents should also be accompanied by a certified translation.
Documents issued in Georgia and Uzbekistan
The documents need to be legalized by the following bodies of the country in
which the documents were issued :
- Ministry of Justice
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The documents will eventually be legalized by the Belgian Embassy in Moscow or

for documents issued in Georgia : by our Honorary Consul in Tbilisi

for documents issued in Uzbekistan : by our Honorary Consul in Tashkent The
documents should be accompanied by a certified translation.
Please note, the documents issued in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan can no longer be legalized by The Belgian Embassy in Moscow. The competent Embassy for the legalization of such documents is the Belgian Embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan.
To have your documents legalized at the Belgian Embassy, please schedule an
appointment at the Visa Application Centre.
