Visa for Family Reunification to join Spouse
Documents to be submitted with a visa application:
When applying for a visa, you need to present the following documents at the
embassy or consulate responsible for your place of residence:
Married to a Belgian citizen or a European Economic Area (EEA) National who
resides in Belgium.

A valid travel document (e.g. international passport) valid for three months
longer than the visa.
It is advisable that your passport contains at least two double blank pages reserved for visas (blank front and back) for each applicant (so, if a child travels with parent in the parent’s passport, there should be 4 blank pages (blank front and back), i.e. 8 blank pages.

Two visa application forms
correctly completed, signed and accompanied by three recent photographs
bearing a true likeness to the applicant.

Marriage certificate.

An official copy of the divorce ruling, divorce certificate or death
certificate for your previous spouse if you had been married before.

A copy of the Belgian identity card, confirmation of registration (attestation
d'immatriculation/attest van immatriculatie) or residence permit of your spouse
residing in Belgium who is a Belgian citizen or an EEA national
- The copy of the internal passport: personal
data page (page 3), military duty (page 13), marital status (pages 14,
15), children (pages 16, 17), information about issued passports (page 19)
- Evidence that the person you will join has a medical insurance valid for himself/herself and all his/her family members.
- The family members in Belgium must show that they have regular and sufficient income and that they can support the family without help from public funds.
- Applicant’s birth certificate.
Important :
- The documents listed above are only the basic documents to be submitted in all cases. Additional documents may be requested by the Embassy or Consulate and Applicants may also be invited for an interview.
- Applying for this visa category applicant can be invited for interview to the Embassy.
- Official documents issued in Russia or in Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan must be apostilled/legalised and accompanied by a certified translation also apostilled/legalized.

The above mentioned type D visa is a one entry national visa and requires
registration in the Belgian population registers on arrival.
