Visa for Family Reunification to join Parents
Documents to be submitted with a visa application:

When applying for a visa, you need to present the following documents at the embassy or consulate responsible for your place of residence:

• A valid travel document (e.g. international passport) valid for three months longer than the visa. It is advisable that your passport contains at least two double blank pages reserved for visas (blank front and back) for each applicant (so, if a child travels with parent in the parent’s passport, there should be 4 blank pages (blank front and back), i.e. 8 blank pages.
• Two visa application forms correctly completed, signed and accompanied by three recent photographs bearing a true likeness to the applicant.
• Copy of the Belgian identity card, Belgian passport or the residence or settlement permit for foreign nationals issued to your parent residing in Belgium
• Visa applicant's birth certificate.
• Permission from the individual who has custody of you (the child) that you may leave the country.
• A copy of your parent's marriage certificate if you are applying for a visa as a descendant of their spouse.
• The copy of the internal passport: personal data page (page 3), military duty (page 13), marital status (pages 14, 15), children (pages 16, 17), information about issued passports (page 19)
• Evidence that the person you will join has a medical insurance valid for himself/herself and all his/her family members.
• Evidence that the person you will join has an adequate housing (property act, registered lease).
• Documents should be submitted in original + 2 photocopies. All originals are returned.

Important :

1. The documents listed above are only the basic documents to be submitted in all cases. Additional documents may be requested by the Embassy or Consulate and Applicants may also be invited for an interview.
2. Official documents issued in Russia or in Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan must be apostilled/legalized and accompanied by a certified translation also apostilled/legalized.
3. The above mentioned type D visa is a one entry national visa and requires registration in the Belgian population registers on arrival.
