Visiting family and friends in Belgium
Documents to be submitted with a visa application:

  • A valid travel document (e.g. international passport) valid for a minimum of 03 months after expiry of the applied visa. It is advisable that your passport contains at least two double blank pages reserved for visas (blank front and back) for each applicant (so, if a child travels with parent in the parent’s passport, there should be 4 blank pages (blank front and back), i.e. 8 blank pages.
  • A visa application form correctly completed, signed and accompanied by two recent passport photographs bearing a true likeness to the applicant.
  • A letter of Invitation from family/friend stating relationship and inviting you to Belgium.
  • Proof of sufficient and regular personal financial means (min. 38 € per day) like: recent salary slips, bank statements, income tax papers OR Proof of sponsor's financial means like: salary slips of the last three months, bank statements, income tax papers and Formal Obligation (annexe 3Bis/bijlage 3Bis) from the Municipality in Belgium (original + copy). The annexe 3bis/bijlage 3bis needs to be printed out recto/verso on one piece of paper. Annexe 3bis/bijlage 3bis printed out on two distinct pieces of paper will not be accepted.
  • Evidence of applicant's employment and income. For students: student card or proof of enrolment. Certificate of your employer (name, address, phone number, your position, tenure duration, salary)
  • A valid travel insurance policy, either individual or group, with a minimum cover of 30,000 Euro and valid for all Schengen countries.
  • For non-Russian citizens, a valid visa or residence permit for the Russian Federation + registration valid 3 months after the scheduled return
  • Previous passport containing Schengen visas
  • Copy of the first page of hosts' passport or residence permit.

Categories of persons who benefit from a waiving of the visa fee:

  • children under 6 years;
  • Spouse and children under 21 years of age of a European Union national or of a EEA national.

Important:

1.      The documents listed above are only the basic documents to be submitted in all cases. Additional documents may be requested by the Consulate and Applicants may also be invited for an interview.

2.      The above mentioned type 'C' visa is for valid for all Schengen countries and is intended for a short stay up to 90 days.
